Body Logic
Brie uses a ‘body logic’ approach to her massage services and may use any or all of the following, to achieve the perfect treatment for you.
The logic is simple; where there is pain, discomfort, or injury, there exists compression, imbalance, restrictions, or as is commonly termed in Body Logic, a lack of space.
Through inter-active participation with the client, in a process that goes deeper than massage, Body Logic traces the origin of muscles at the bone and tendon elongating them toward their insertions.
This process of opening restricted spaces affects the mind and body from head to toe. Whether one seeks relief from pain and structural problems or simply a healthier stress-free body, Body Logic is a complete neuromuscular education of and for the body and mind.
It’s hard to find a Deep Tissue Massage Therapist who really knows what they are doing and has the experience and knowledge of the body and how it functions, especially from an athletic perspective and background. Having engaged in exercise and physical fitness her whole life, Brie has the Experience, the Knowledge, and the PASSION.
All Massages are draped with 100% cotton sheets!

Descriptions
Massage is simply touch. Oftentimes the muscles, tendons and ligaments can be particularly prone to injury. Brie focuses on problems that may arise due to stress, repetitive motion injuries (repetitive stress syndrome), trauma, to name a few among the most common: Rotator Cuff, Low Back or Sciatica, Iliotibial Band Hip Pain or Plantar Fasciitis. Massage helps increase the body’s production of serotonin, the hormone that promotes happiness and good feelings. Sessions will include a combination of therapies that will most benefit the client and will be determined upon assessment. Hot stones and essential oils are offered at no additional charge in every session.
Deep Tissue Deep tissue, or Neuromuscular massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. It eases stress and tension, thus having a beneficial effect on blood pressure. Over time, deep-tissue massage therapy can help break up and eventually erase scar tissue in the body. Neuromuscular Therapy will be used to address five elements that cause pain:
Ischemia: Lack of blood supply to soft tissues which causes hypersensitivity to touch
Trigger Points: Highly irritated points in muscles which refer pain to other parts of the body
Nerve Compression or Entrapment: Pressure on a nerve by soft tissue, cartilage or bone
Postural Distortion: Imbalance of the muscular system resulting from the movement of the body off the longitudinal and horizontal planes (scoliosis or leg length differences)
Biomechanical Dysfunction: Imbalance of the musculoskeletal system resulting in faulty movement patterns.
Orthopedic Massage
First, an assessment of the injury or issues will be made.
Brie will look at the range of motion, flexibility, and rotation of the tissues. This will help determine what muscle groups and tendons are involved and which techniques would be best.
Conditions that benefit are:
-
Carpal-tunnel syndrome
-
Frozen shoulder (rotator cuff strain or partial tear)
-
Tennis elbow
-
Tendinitis
-
Sciatica
-
Bulging discs
An assortment of soft-tissue techniques to loosen muscles and tendons will be performed.
These techniques include:
-
Active engagement – Used to reach deep, hard to access muscles by compressing muscles and stroking lengthwise in a perpendicular motion. It is especially helpful with whiplash or lumbar pain.
-
Positional release – A gentle treatment safe for inflamed muscles and tissues that are too sensitive for other techniques. Soft tissues are manipulated into comfortable positions and held in the correct place for a minute or longer. This lengthens and softens tissues promoting pain relief.
-
Nerve mobilization techniques – Also known as neurodynamics and neural mobilization, this method is used to locate strained nerves and sources of pain.
-
Muscle energy technique – Therapist provides resistance while you voluntarily contract certain muscles. Especially helpful with lumbar pain.
-
Trigger point therapy – Uses intervals of pressure on trigger areas to release lactic acid and promote circulation.
-
Myofascial release – Stretching or cupping applied to the body to stretch fascial tissues.
Sports Massage focuses on muscles relevant to the athlete’s event. For athletes who train continuously, the goal is to enhance endurance, lessen the chance of injury and shorten the time needed to recover from an event. Sports Massage utilizes a variety of techniques such as deep tissue, neuromuscular and trigger point therapy. There is evidence that following heavy exercise, both L-glutamine (an amino acid manufactured by the body) and the immune system take a dip. When you provide support for the recipient, it has a positive effect on immune function, increasing their ability to train, tying into the whole emotional state of a person. The athlete has to stay healthy in order to continue training and with massage, they can train harder because they are able to recover faster.
Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage is an effective bodywork therapy for client’s needing a deeper pressure than the hands and forearms can provide. Pressure is applied to the neck/entire back of the body, using the practitioner’s feet and body weight. Clients report significant decreases in pain with amazing increases in range of motion and athletic performance. Athletes with sports or repetitive strain injuries find they are even more flexible after the sessions than before they were injured!
Hot Stone Therapy is used to ground the individual and induce deep relaxation and healing. Smooth basalt stones are heated and applied with oil in long flowing strokes, connecting body and spirit to earth. The stones are all different sizes and weights, from large to small, with small stones used on the face and feet and larger stones used as tools to work muscles in different areas of the body. Gliding hot stones over muscles increases an area’s circulation and blood flow, to stimulate healing to painful or damaged muscles. The massage and heat of the stones aid in the ability to move toxins and waste through the body. The feeling that the stones create is simply amazing!
Foot Reflexology causes a healing effect on various body parts and organs (a reflex response) by stimulation of specific points on the feet. Based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet. Foot Massage, thereby effects a physical change in the body.
Cupping softens tight muscles and tones attachments, by creating suction and vacuum pressure. The produced vacuum creates a suction effect that increases blood and lymphatic circulation systemically and to the local area. Cupping relaxes muscle tissue, draws stagnation and toxins out of the body, consequently releasing a myriad of pain causing factors. Using medical-grade silicone cups, massage cupping will loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways. It is relatively painless and does not usually cause the bruising associated with it.
Chakra Balancing improves your health and well-being, physically, mentally and emotionally. The word Chakra comes from the ancient Indian language known as Sanskrit; Chakra means vortex, spinning wheel or circle. Chakras are like the power stations of our body, bringing it to life, and keeping it healthy. The Chakras correlate with different areas of our physical and non-physical body. They need to spin totally in balance for our physical, spiritual and mental health. I will assist you through a process that allows your 7 major Chakras to open fully and become balanced.
Reiki The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy”. A treatment consists of laying the hands on the body and allowing universal energy to come through the practitioner’s hands, to the person being treated. It is a divinely guided energy that knows exactly where the blockages are and pushes them out, as well as filling up the recipient with energy, wherever there is a deficit. Reiki does not use the practitioner’s energy, making it safe for both the practitioner and the recipient. You do not run the risk of absorbing the practitioner’s energy and vice versa, therefore Reiki can be used in any situation where there is a desire for healing.
